Acne is a common skin condition marked by the eruption of pimples and clogged pores. It is usually a problem for children and teenagers who are going through puberty. You can stop worrying about how you are going to look because you can cure your acne with simple, low-cost home remedies. The first thing to recognize is that there have been many people who have cured their long-term, problematic acne, and so can you. It’s easier and less expensive than you think. Below are two effective home remedies for acne and acne scars. Your skin reacts differently at different times of the day and therefore you must apply different treatments at different times of the day. Try each remedy one at a time and about a week apart. It is important not to take on both treatments at once as one treatment may aggravate your skin and, if so, you will need to know which treatment to avoid.
The Evening Citrus Remedy
For this remedy, you will need one large lemon or two small size lemons. The citrus in lemons will reach deep into your skin’s pores to reduce inflammation of the sebaceous gland. Lemon, lime and other citrus fruits are some of the most popular ingredients used in home remedies for acne.
At the end of the day, wash your face gently with lukewarm water and no soap. Use a soft, clean, 100% cotton wash cloth or just gently wipe your face clean with your hands. Women, ensure to remove all make up before applying. Once your skin is clear of any debris, you will need to squeeze the juice out of the lemon into a bowl. Add about a cup of lukewarm water to the lemon juice in the bowl. Stir this mixture with your finger and then gently dab it on your acne. It may burn upon initial application but after about 3 minutes any burning sensation will disappear. Once it is applied to the affected areas of your skin, remove the excess lemon juice from your skin and pat dry with a towel. While you are asleep, the acid in the lemon juice helps to disinfect your pores and reduce inflammation.
As I get older, I am more aware of the build up of wrinkles, age spots and other signs of aging. I have found that citrus fruits also combat many of these unwanted signs quite effectively. There are several citrus-based anti aging products that help prevent acne and wrinkles that you can use. Make sure that you try the citrus treatment above before purchasing any products as the citrus treatment may be all that is required for your unique skin problem.
The Morning Milk Remedy
Upon waking, shower and wash the parts of your skin that has the acne well with lukewarm, soapy warm water. Cleanliness is key to reducing flare ups and calming your skin. After your shower and soapy wash, pat dry with a towel. For this remedy, do not fully dry your skin as you want it to be somewhat damp. With your skin soft and damp after washing and pat drying, use a washcloth to apply a generous amount of fresh buttermilk to the affected areas. If you have oily skin, use 1% fat milk or skim milk. Just like with the citrus remedy, ensure that you remove any excess milk with a soft, 100% cotton towel and then pat dry.
Milk has long been a trusted ingredient in home remedies for preventing acne, acne scars, and wrinkles. It calms the skin and acts as a soothing, all-natural anti aging product. You will find that it has the same feel as many body lotions and creams on the market. Milk is also effective if you are at pains over how to get rid of blackheads – a black-tipped plug that clogs a pore of the skin. After regular use each morning for about two weeks, the milk will calm the skin and protect it from becoming infected with debris and particles in the air.
So remember that curing acne can be done with a constant routine of inexpensive, natural remedies. Apply a mixture of lemon and warm water in the evening and fresh milk or buttermilk in the morning. The different effects that citrus and milk have on your skin will help your skin at those times of the day when your skin needs the most help. Repeat the evening and morning remedies for as long as necessary and you will notice a significant improvement. I started to notice my acne and some blackheads start to disappear after about two weeks; however, every skin is different so don’t expect to achieve the same results.
